Reseed: Journal Prompts for the Autumn Equinox

Happy Mabon and Autumn Equinox. Today the world rests in a momentary state of solar balance. Night and day are the same length. This is one of my favorite holidays on the Wheel of the Year because it honors the light and the shadow, the harvest and the coming dark. Liminal space is my favorite place to dwell and make magic.

I'm spending the day putting together my equinox altar. And tonight I'll be processing apples from our local orchard for a Mabon pie (made with a little orange rind and scotch). This is my way of honoring the deep stillness and potent pause offered by this ancient holiday.

Here are some journal prompts I'm meditating on today to mark this moment. Feel free to join me in this inquiry:

  • Which creative fruits from the past season have produced viable seeds for the future? These are efforts that fill me with nourishment and are aligned with the kind of garden I want to grow next season.

  • And which of my creative fruits from the past season need to be composted as fuel for other dreams? These are efforts and ideas that are potent, but didn't survive this year's wind and weather. Luckily, they'll make for nutrient rich soil in which to bury this year's seeds.

Also, here are some journal prompts you may have seen in my Full Moon Newsletter this week:

  • What in your lineage needs healing?

  • What kind of ancestor do you wish to be?

  • Which prayers do you need to embody today to bring about the kind of future you envision?

  • How might you share your creative work as a seedsong to be passed on to your children and grandchildren?

Happy journaling!
