Holiday House Portraits
I began painting house portraits for a Dallas-based real estate group as closing gifts to their clients. And since then, they’ve really taken off. The most exciting time of year for these one-of-a-kind paintings is during the holidays. They make wonderful gifts.
I consider my house portraits to be little painted love letters. These homes shelter the hopes and dreams of the inhabitants and my goal in rendering them is to honor those dreams. Each piece is 11 x 14 inches, painted in acrylic on high quality archival paper.
Here are just a few of my most recent creations. To everyone who commissioned a piece this season, thank you! Thank you for supporting my work as an independent artist!
All my house portraits begin as a line drawing. I sketch out the structures in pencil and then paint it out using a high fluid black acrylic paint. (Golden brands are my favorite.) Once I have a clear line drawing with some skeletal landscaping, I begin layering in the colors. Some clients prefer the line drawings. Clients can choose to commission full color painting or just the line drawing.
