Structure in the Garden

As I work in my back yard and feel my way through the process of creating a garden from the ground up, I realize that structure and spacing, rather than plants, are what really improve the aesthetics of an outdoor space. A garden grows over time, adding a little bit every year. I think next year I might try to lay some paths or build more permanent obelisks.
